Bailey Range Traverse 2010 ~ Foreword

It has been far too long before posting the most pivotal trip Nivaun and I have ever done to date. And the one that lead to building our future plan to finish this life together, exploring nature across our planet. After 15 years together, we were at a relationship crossroads in need of an affirmation, and a new direction, only found when the made-up noise of life’s routine is put aside, the comforts that keep us numb, stripped away. It is then, and only then, the simplicity of being a human in nature takes hold to remind you, who you truly are and lets you see others in their most raw and beautiful state. This was a trip of elation and struggle, fear and perseverance, leaving us with immense gratitude for one another and the wilderness that is our home.

Scott remains our most treasured companion in the back country and has accompanied us on many trips starting in early 2000. His love of the wilderness, finding beauty in every flower, wonder at every turn and delight in every berry found matches our own. But on this trip, we witnessed his courage and strength to push through injuries and still find ways to elevate our morale and be a stablizing force when we needed it most.

In the posts that follow - I am sharing images of the book Nivaun put together from my journal and his photos. The images are best viewed on a computer screen or tablet vs a phone to read the story. We sincerely hope you enjoy sharing our experience of a lifetime ~ with many more to come!

** Tim is Nivaun’s middle name.
